Sea Life Orlando Field Trip

The trip will be on Tuesday, May 28th! Permission slips went home this week. You do not need to pay again; however, if you did not pay for your child to attend the trip originally, you can sign them up now. The cost is $25. We are excited to finally enjoy our trip to Sea Life Orlando!

Science Learning Targets:  Students will be able to describe how animals and plants respond to changing seasons.

Science Learning Activities: Students will create a migrate/hibernate foldable, complete vocabulary activities and make a collage using words, phrases and pictures.

Science Vocabulary:

  • Migration: the movement of an animal from one location to another as the seasons change.
  • hibernation: a long, deep sleep in which an animal’s heart rate and breathing are slower than normal
  • dormancy: growth temporarily stops
  • adaptation/adapt: a change that helps an animal survive

Math Learning Targets:

Students will take the Math FSA test Monday and Tuesday. For the rest of the week, students will review fractions as parts of a set, relate fractions to division and use a number line to represent fractions.

Math Learning Activities:

The math FSA will be on May 6-7. For the rest of the week, students will work on fraction practice sheets, word problems and games as part of our end of the year review getting ready for 4th grade!

ELA Activities: Students will participate in small groups during centers and also practicing on Iready and Istation.

ELA Learning Targets:

3.RL.3.4d: Use glossaries or beginning dictionaries, both print and digital, to determine or clarify the precise meaning of key words and phrases. 

3.L.1.2a: Capitalize appropriate words in titles. 

3.L.1.1f: Form and use the simple (e.g., I walked; I walk; I will walk) verb tenses.

Writing Targets

3.W.1.2: Write informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas and information clearly.

IXL: DD.3, DD.4, HH.1, OO.2, QQ.2

Social Studies: SS.G.2.1 Label the countries and commonwealths in North America (Canada, United States, Mexico) and in the Caribbean (Puerto Rico, Cuba, Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica).
