Reading: Students will be able to Ask and Answer Questions about grade level texts to demonstrate understanding. Students will identify the main idea and find details that support that idea. Students will find evidence in the text to “prove” their answers
Math: Students will be able to use standard units of measurement to find perimeter. Students will match shapes to a given perimeter and learn that different shapes can have the same perimeter
Science: What are the sun and stars? What is gravity?
Writing: Students will learn to write informative essays. This week we will focus on writing strong introductions and making a plan
Social Studies: Students will compare primary and secondary sources.
Reading: Story of the week “Penguin Chick” will be used throughout the week to support the skills of: using context clues to determine the meaning if unfamiliar words, identifying the main idea.
Writing: We will be practicing writing detailed sentences and indentifying run-on sentences.
Math Learning Activities: Interactive activities and practice with perimeter in centers. Practice using tools and units of measurement to find perimeter IXL FF.1, FF.2, FF.3
Science Learning Activities: Unit 2 Science Fusion. Students will work on inquiry science learning activities and apply the scientific method as they make observations and inferences.
Social Studies: Social studies will be integrated into our Reading Block as we continue to compare primary and secondary sources. Students are bringing in “Artifact Bags” from home.

Shuffles- walking without lifting the feet off the ground
Huddle- a group of people or animals that is close together.
Junior- the younger or smaller of two.
Down- fine, soft feathers; from a higher to a lower place.
