  • Learn Classroom Procedures
  • Understand negative numbers and what it means to add a positive and a negative
  • Review the process of solving equations by using inverse operations
  • Students will be able to solve one-step equations and two-step equations
Classroom Activities


  • Introduce me and my expectations, importance of education and preparation for Algebra next year
  • Review class procedures and class rules poster
  • Review the coordinate plane
  • Students will do the Graph of Me activity
  • Using counters, we will develop an understanding of how negatives and positives cancel each other out
  • We will use a human number line to look at negatives in another way
  • Students will do a Plickers on Combining a Positive and a Negative 


  • Students will do guided notes on Solving One-step Equations


  • Students will do a One-step Equation Maze worksheet
  • We will do a Two-step Equation Maze together 
  • We will do the Plickers on Combining a Positive and Negative again
