MAFS.8.EE.3.7:  Solve linear equations in one variable:  solve linear equations with rational number coefficients, including equations whose solutions require expanding expressions using the distributive property and collecting like terms.

MAFS.8.G.2.6:  Explain a proof of the Pythagorean Theorem and its converse.

MAFS.8.G.2.7:  Apply the Pythagorean Theorem to determine unknown side lengths in right triangles in real-world and mathematical problems in two and three dimensions.

MAFS.8.G.2.8:  Apply the Pythagorean Theorem to find the distance between two points in a coordinate system.

Learning Targets and Learning Criteria
• simplify equations using distributive property, combining like terms, and inverse operations.
• solve multi-step linear equations with rational number coefficients.
• Students will determine if a triangle is a right triangle using Pythagorean Theorem.
• Students will apply the Pythagorean Theorem to find an unknown side length of a right triangle.
• Students will draw a diagram and use the Pythagorean Theorem to solve real-world problems involving right triangles, including three-dimensional triangles.
• Connect any two points on a coordinate grid to a third point so that the three points form a right triangle.
• Apply the Pythagorean Theorem to find the distance between the original two points.
Classroom Activities

Monday/Tuesday:

2. We will review for the DIA
1. We will play a Pythagorean Theorem knock-out game
2. We will do a review Kahoot

Wednesday:

1. Students will log onto Zoom session
2. Students will take DIA #2

Thursday/Friday:

1. Students will log onto Zoom session
2. We will do a Jeopardy game to practice more solving equations
