Week #February 8-12
Unit of InstructionFocus 8: Introduction to Functions
Standard(s) Taught

MAFS.8.F.1.2: Compare properties of two functions each represented in a different way (algebraically, graphically, numerically in tables, or by verbal descriptions).  For example, given a linear function represented by a table of values and a linear function represented by an algebraic expression, determine which function has the greater rate of change.

Learning Targets and Learning Criteria
  • identify the properties of a function written in algebraic form (e.g., rate of change, meaning of y-intercept and x-intercept, linear, non-linear).
  • compare the properties of two functions that are represented differently (e.g., as an equation, in a table, graphically, or a verbal representation).
Classroom Activities

Monday/Tuesday:

  1. Students will log onto the Zoom session.
  2. Students will create a Rate of Change graphic organize
  3. We will work through some of the task cards together.
  4. Students will do IXL ‘s Z.5 and Z.6

Wednesday:

  1. Students will log onto the Zoom session.
  2. Students will do iReady.

Thursday/Friday:

  1. Students will log onto the Zoom session.
  2. We will do a Comparing Functions practice sheet.
  3. Students will then do a Comparing Two Functions worksheet.
Assignments Due
  • iReady quiz
  • IXL’s Z.5 and Z.6
  • Comparing Two Functions Worksheet.
