# Q3, W4: January 24-28 Pre-Algebra

Teacher Kristin Andreason Pre-Algebra 8 January 24-28 Focus 8: Functions
Standard(s) Taught

MAFS.8.F.1.2: Compare properties of two functions each represented in a different way (algebraically, graphically, numerically in tables, or by verbal descriptions).  For example, given a linear function represented by a table of values and a linear function represented by an algebraic expression, determine which function has the greater rate of change.

Learning Targets and Learning Criteria
• identify the properties of a function written in algebraic form (e.g., rate of change, meaning of y-intercept and x-intercept, linear, non-linear).
• compare the properties of two functions that are represented differently (e.g., as an equation, in a table, graphically, or a verbal representation).
Classroom Activities

Monday/Tuesday:

1. We will do Rate of Change and Slope Doodle Notes
2. We will watch The Adventures of Slope Dude
3. Students will create a Rate of Change graphic organize
4. Students will do IXL  BB.6

Wednesday:

1. Students will do Rate of Change Task Cards

Thursday/Friday:

1. We will do a Comparing Functions practice sheet as notes
2. Students will then do a Comparing Two Functions worksheet.
3. Students will do IXL BB.15
Assignments Due
• IXL’s BB.5 and BB.15
• Comparing Two Functions Worksheet.
