# Q1W6 Algebra

Teacher Carol Barnes Algebra 7th/8th Q1W6 Sept. 21-24 Algebra Equations and Inequalities
Standard(s) Taught

MAFS.912.A-REI.2.4b – Solve quadratic equations in one variable by inspection as appropriate to the initial form of the equation.

MAFS.912.A-CED.1.2 – Create equation in two or more variables to represent relationships between quantities, graph equations on coordinate axes with labels and scales.

MAFS.912.A-REI.4.10 – Understand that the graph of an equation in two variables is the et of all its solutions plotted in the coordinate plane, often forming a curve (which could be a line).

Learning Targets and Learning Criteria
• solve equations using the zero product property, for example (2x – 5)(x + 4) = 0
• graph equations on the coordinate plane the represent all possible solutions to a real-world problem using appropriate labels and scales.
• create a graph where the ordered pairs are solutions to the equation.
• verify that any point on a graph will result in a true equation when their coordinates are substituted into the equation.
Classroom Activities

Tuesday:

Bellringer:  Solve literal equation A=1/2bh for h.

Whole Group:  Go over test.  Use test as a study guide for retest on Wednesday (tomorrow)  Take notes for ISN – Page 10 Compound Inequalities Compound Inequalities Notes
