Q1 W6 Oct 5-Oct 9 Algebra 1

TeacherStephanie Durrance
Subject AreaAlgebra 1 Honors
Grade Level7th/8th
Week #6
Unit of InstructionUnit 2 – Solving Equations and Inequalities
Standard(s) Taught

MAFS.912.A-REI.2.4b: Solve quadratic equations in one variable.
MAFS.912.A-CED.1.2: Create equation in two or more variables to represent relationships between quantities; graph equations on coordinate axes with labels and scales.
MAFS.912.A-CED.1.4: Rearrange formulas to highlight a quantity of interest, using the same reasoning as in solving equations.
MAFS.912.A-REI.4.10: Understand that the graph of an equation in two variables is the set of all its solutions plotted in the coordinate plane

Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

• solve equations using the zero-product property
• identify the variables and quantities represented in a real-world problem.
• create equations and inequalities with two variables.
• graph equations on the coordinate plane that represent all possible solutions to a real-world problem using appropriate labels and scales.
• solve formulas for a specified variable.
• explain the steps used to rearrange a formula to highlight a variable of interest (algebraic proof)
• make connections between solving equations and rearranging formulas.
• create a graph where the ordered pairs are solutions to the equation
• verify that any point on a graph will result in a true equation when their coordinates are substituted into the equation.
• explain if a function is discrete or continuous.
