Wk1 Q4 Online Learning Mar 30-Apr 3 Algebra 1

TeacherStephanie Durrance
Subject AreaAlgebra I Honors
Grade Level7th/8th
Week #1
Unit of InstructionUNIT 10: Summary of Functions and Additional Functions
Standard(s) Taught

MAFS.912.F-IF.3.9: Compare properties of two functions each represented in a different way (algebraically, graphically, numerically in tables, or by verbal descriptions)

MAFS.912.F-LE.1.1: Distinguish between situations that can be modeled with linear functions and with exponential functions.

Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

• compare key features of two functions when represented in different ways (algebraically, graphically, numerically in tables, or by verbal descriptions).

• define linear function and exponential function. • determine whether the real-world context may be represented by a linear function or an exponential function and give the constant rate or the rate of growth or decay. (The function could be represented as a table, a graph, a verbal graph, or symbolically.) • choose an explanation as to why a context may be modeled by a linear function or an exponential function. • demonstrate that a linear function has a constant rate of change and an exponential function has a constant multiplier over equal intervals.

Classroom Activities

Monday/Tuesday:

Attention 2nd, 6th, 7th, and 8th Period Students: Zoom meeting with Ms. Durrance at specific times below to discuss upcoming course work and procedures. Go to zoom.us and join the meeting. Download the free Zoom app and type in the meeting ID. I will send you the meeting ID through Remind. You can connect through audio only if you don’t want to be on video.

After video, click on the box next to Topic 1 for “Check your Understanding.”

Algebra Nation Math Workbook (20 min): Complete page 197 and first half of page 198.

IXL (20 min): CC.1. Identify linear, quadratic, and exponential functions from graphs (70% or higher)

Wednesday:

Warm-up: EOC Review Packet #1-4 (5 min)

Project: Directions: Look back on the last three units that we have learned.  Look for similarities and differences when dealing with linear, quadratic and exponential functions.  Organize these similarities and differences in a creative fashion. It can be a PowerPoint, poster, graph paper, index cards, or any other creative method to present a comparison between the functions. The project should include important parts of each function such as a table, equation, graph, real-world problem, slope/rate of change, initial values, zeros/solutions/roots, asymptotes, domain and range, x- and y-intercepts. The project will be due April 17th. Begin working on project today. Be sure to use your resources including the internet, ISN, and Algebra Nation online and workbook.
