THURSDAY/FRIDAY: Background videos, Close Reader Annotations of Anne Frank Scenes 1 and 2 (pages 91-108) including the short response.

Revising the Outline Instructions

Materials: YOUR Fire essay, text set, prompt 2019 Penny Model Essay (For Color-Coded Outline example)

  1. Create a Color-coded outline for your essay (exactly as it was written)
  2. Follow the steps below to revise your outline
  3. Submit BOTH outlines for your formative grade

For your fire outline, follow the revision steps to evaluate the main idea and evidence selection. Cross out and change things as needed, and circle the final evidence you choose.

Revision Steps:

1. Check the thesis to make sure it answers all parts of the prompt.
2. Check the main ideas to make sure they support the thesis.
3. Check the evidence to make sure it supports the main idea.
4. Check the outline for variety of sources and an opposing claim(s).

When you finish, write a note next to each piece of evidence you chose using one of these stems:

 We chose this evidence because…
 This evidence proves that…
 This evidence explains how/why…
 This evidence is important because…
 We agree that this evidence shows…
 We would like to add…

You MUST complete any late Edgenuity work (Unit test) by Friday because we are moving on to a new unit and I will bypass the work and you will receive a “0.”
