A2.2  Identify, using dance vocabulary, the elements of dance used in their own, and others’ dance pieces and explain how each communicate ideas and feelings.  

Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

“What is Dance?”

  • Students will be able to define what dance is.

“What are the 5 Elements of Dance?”

  • Students will be able to identify the 5 Elements of Dance. 
  • Students will be able to explain what the different elements mean for Dance. 

“Types of Dance”

  • Students will list different style of Dance seen throughout the world. 

“Moving with the Music”

  • Students will be given two different style of music to dance to. After which we will discuss as a group how each individual song makes us feel or how we relate to the song. 

“What do good quality dancers look like?” 

  • This is a group activity. Students will be in a group of 3 or 4. They will work as a group to come up with a list of what makes a good dancer.
