Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

Students will review video regarding careers in theatre.
Students will determine positions that might suit them in theatre.
Students will assess their interests and strengths in regards to these positions.

Classroom Activities

Special area right now is for enrichment purposes only.
Work will be kept at a minimum in order to reduce the workload for our students working from home.

The following is an assignment that can be chosen to send in for assessment.  They are allowed to choose any one exercise from my assignment options.
It is not due until April 30th.

In this lesson, we get to see a few videos with different positions in the theatre world: music composer, choreographer, and costume designer.  For this assignment, have your student choose a job they’d like to try in this industry.  The following elements are required:
– What job would you like to try?
– What does this job do?
– Why do you think this job is for you?  What excites you about it? What skills do you have that you think would make you great for it?

The only jobs your student CAN’T pick is actor, dancer, singer.

And there are lots of jobs that these videos don’t cover:
Stage Manager
Light Technician
Sound Designer
Box Office
Theatre Owner
And more!

Please let me know if I can be of any help at terhuner@ivyhawnschool.org or through Remind (@ihedrama)

Assignments Due

Choose a theatre career outside of performance and explain why this would be a cool job to have.
***If your student chooses this assignment, please send a video or written response to Mrs. Terhune at terhuner@ivyhawnschool.org by April 30th***
