Plant Life Cycle Vocab

Seed- the embryo of a plant.

Stem- helps to support the leaves and carries water, minerals, and food around inside the plant.

Chlorophyll- the green pigment in a plant’s leaves that help the plant make food.

Oxygen- a type of gas that plants release after using carbon dioxide for photosynthesis.

Seed coat- the outside of the seed. Keeps the embryo safe and moisture inside the seed.

Flower- the part of the plant that makes seeds.

Leaves- absorbs sunlight and carbon dioxide to use for food.

Pollen- a sticky powder inside the flower that helps make the seeds.

Photosynthesis- the process that plants use to make energy from sunlight.

Carbon dioxide- a type of gas that plants use for the process of photosynthesis.
