Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

In this topic, over the next couple of weeks students will be able to:
add and subtract whole digit numbers
rounding numbers between 1,000 and 1,000,000
use place value to compare and round numbers
read and write whole digit numbers up to 1,000,000
know that a digit in one place represents ten times what it represents in the place to its right

demonstrate the difference between Earth’s rotation and Earth’s revolution
explain that earth rotates once on its axis approx. every 24 hours
explain that earth revolves around the sun once in a year
explain that the rotation of the earth causes the sun and stars to appear as though they are moving
know that the sun is the closest star to Earth
read and discuss how the effects of space research has created advances in science
research products that were generated specifically for space but now have public purpose (ie:velcro)
