Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

This quarter we are finishing up our competition and performance pieces and will begin cleaning them to be stage ready! We will work on fine tuning counts, spacing, and all the details of the choreography so the dances look together and clean. We work on stage presence, talk about the meaning of each dance, facial expressions, and how to connect with each other and the audience.

In addition, we continue to train in technique, primarily ballet and jazz. We incorporate dance conditioning weekly.

Classroom Activities

Typically we begin each class with a warm up – either teacher led or student led. We then go into our main unit of instruction for the day, which is either technique training or choreography rehearsal.

Dancers dress out for this class and help to clean the floor and room at the end of the class period.

Assignments Due

We will do several self and peer critique assessments this quarter. We will video record our dances to watch and have for reflection and critiques. We will also work with vocabulary from our dances, which will become our Vocabulary Unit 4 test.
