Rehearse to improve performance quality of dance pieces.

Perform, with dance technique, using musical accuracy and expression.

Demonstrate without prompting, procedures expected in class, rehearsal, and performance with independence.

1. Complete Student Choreography in groups for our Dance Team Finale
2. Work towards precision, excellent performance quality, and memorization of all pieces for our Dance Team Finale
3. Complete final assessments from final competition and year
4. Attend ASH Dance Convention/Showcase

Classroom Activities

For this quarter, we will be focusing on our Dance Team Finale! This is a big final production for the team that will include several dances from the competition season, student group choreography pieces, and a few surprises. Activities each day will include:

1. Ballet Class every Monday
2. Jazz Technique Class every Thursday
3. Work on student choreography pieces
4. Clean and maintain other dances for the show
5. Put together performance details like editing music, costuming, creating programs

Assignments Due

We will have a few assessments this quarter including vocabulary review from the year, competition assessment, and the Dance Team Finale – which counts as a summative for all dancers.

Dancers are given a “Weekly Etiquette” grade based on participation, effort, behavior, and readiness for class.

We will have some projects as well – dance photography, “Create Your Own Show” – for our innovation dancer, creating the show program and advertisements.
