Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

During this quarter, we will explore many avenues related to dance. We will start with some dance history, learning about important figures from various cultural backgrounds and how they influenced dance. We will also discuss nutrition and the important role it plays for dancers. Dancers will do an independent study project on Dance Careers, and we will finish the quarter beginning our plans for our Spring Showcase, which will be in May.

5th Period Class is working on an extra project collaborating with Ms. Breese’s Film students. They are creating Music Video choreography to include in the Film class’ Music Video creations that will be sent to a Film Festival in New York. This project was started at the end of last quarter and will last a few more weeks.

Classroom Activities

Each day dancers will have the option to dress out for class. They will complete a warm up together, sometimes teacher led, sometimes student led, and sometimes independently.

All work assigned will be done during class time.

Assignments Due

Weekly Etiquette Grade – 15 points max each week for showing proper dance class behavior and effort in class.
