Assignments Due

Assignment: your assignment is due by the end of class on Friday, 1/8/21.

This week as we wrap up our Journey 2050 series, let’s focus on technology and how it can help us feed an ever growing population; almost 10 billion people! This week we will focus on:

* Technology such as robotics and how this would diminish or replace our need for laborers.

*Agriculture sensors that would alert farmers on their phones or tablets when crops need watering, nutrients, pest control or are ready to be harvested

*Arial crop imaging by drone technology that would let farmers know of specific problem areas within their fields.

*Global positioning systems – how can these systems make farming more efficient?

*Vertical farming – with a rising population, how can growing fruits and vegetables in factory buildings and cities as opposed to on large plots of lands be an alternative?

*Livestock Activity Monitors – how can monitors or “fitbits” for livestock allow ranchers to maintain optimum health for their livestock?

*Cultured Meat – could meat created in a lab be a feasible method of producing quality protein without harvesting it from animals? Would it be cost effective and sustainable?

This week your assignment will be to choose ONE of the above mentioned topics and

1. Describe it

2. Further explain what are the benefits

3. What are the limitations.

You need to write one paragraph about each, so 3 paragraphs in total. REMEMBER, your paragraphs should be at least 5 sentences each and if you are handwriting, it must be neatly written OR if you are more comfortable, you can type it and turn it in.
