Beginning Orchestra:

  • Learn the parts of the instruments and be able to label them
  • Be fitted for an instrument 
  • Discuss and practice proper instrument care
  • Practice proper playing posture 
  • Review basic musical notation 
  • Identify rhythmic patterns by ear
  • Begin learning pizzacato and arco bowing techniques


  • Review music reading and notation skills 
  • Practice proper rehearsal posture and attitudes
  • Analyze new repertoire that will be played throughout the year
  • Begin rehearsal on Winter concert material
