Big Idea: Historical and Global Connections: Enduring Understanding 2: The arts reflect and document cultural trends and historical events, and help explain how new directions in the arts have emerged. TH.68.H.2.8: Identify and describe theatrical resources in the community, including professional and community theaters, experts, and sources of scripts and materials.

Big Idea: Organisational Structure Enduring Understanding 1 TH.68.O.1 : Understanding the organizational structure of an art form provides a foundation for appreciation of artistic works and respect for the creative process

Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

Students will closely examine the role of Director, Playwright, Producer, and Stage Manager.

Students will chose one of the roles examined on which to complete an in-depth project. 

Classroom Activities

Week 10: Tuesday/Thursday: Play writing  exercise–Monologue; Play writing exercise–Scene; Share with read through.

Wednesday: Review Hierarchy of the theater; Community resources.

Friday: Improvisation and Play writing exercise. share

Week 11: Monday/Tuesday: Begin Directing Project–select casts for given script

Wednesday: Creating Mood in Theatrical works

Thursday/Friday: Work on creating mood in class; Rehearsal of directing projects.

Week 12: Monday/Tuesday: Work on directing projects (due Nov. 4/5)

Wednesday: TBA

Thursday/Friday: Creating Mood in the theater projects due!
