LAFS.7.RL.2.6 Analyze how an author develops and contrasts the points of view of different characters or narrators in a text.                                                                                          LAFS.7.RL.3.7 Compare and contrast a written story, drama, or poem to its audio, filmed, staged, or multimedia version, analyzing the effects of techniques unique to each medium    (e.g., lighting, sound, color, or camera focus and angles in a film).

Monday

We will discuss poetry. What is it? Why do people write poetry? How do you feel about it? You are supposed to bring a short paragraph to class to read to us today.

Do pages 121-123 in your iReady Workbook. The lesson is, “Determining Word Meanings.”      It is also scanned for you here. Make sure to read carefully, answer the question, and write the two paragraphs.                                                                                                                          Click the link below.

iReady Workbook pp. 121-123

Keep reading magazine articles, books, Internet articles, stories, plays, and watching You Tube videos that teach you interesting facts. Grow your mind! Feed it some good stuff. Be ready to tell me specifically what you are reading. Know the author’s name.

Our vocabulary words this week are: magnificent, catastrophic, life-changing

Watch the two videos below

Wednesday

I have assigned you Think Cerca: Author’s Purpose on the Think Cerca website. Make sure to read carefully and answer all the questions. Click the link below.

https://www.thinkcerca.com/

Write a one-page letter to me telling me what’s going on with you since the start of the distance learning online, having to stay home all the time, how you are entertaining yourself, and what you think about the whole process of distance learning. Use neat hand-writing OR type your letter. Keep each paragraph about one single subject. Use great vocabulary. You can use some of those we have recorded in your notebook. Make sure your letter is a full page–not a fourth of a page or half of a page. Use a greeting, a body with several paragraphs, and a closing. Make sure EVERY WORD IS SPELLED CORRECTLY and there are no left-out words.

Send your letter to me at: mjforney@volusia.k12.fl.us

Letters are due by 5:00 Friday afternoon. This letter will count as your main grade this week. This is the only assignment you will send to me. Your Think Cerca assignment will also count as another grade.

Friday

We will continue to read poetry and discuss author’s purpose, point of view, and Greekies.          Be sure you come to class. You are getting a grade for participation. We are all home quarantine, so there is really no excuse for you not being in class. If you have to miss for an official reason, please ask your mother to contact me on Remind BEFORE you miss class.
