Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

Baseline Reading and Writing Assessments: Strengths- Baseline assessments are given to assess a students knowledge on a subject prior to instruction. These assessments can be very informative and valuable in a teacher’s planning and implementation. By assessing your students’ prior knowledge teachers are able to compare results.

Students will evaluate the reasoning of an argument.

Classroom Activities

Monday, September 14th & Tuesday, September 15th  – Baseline Writing Assessment  (Link to lesson and readings provided above.)  Students will write a baseline argumentative essay.  (Diagnostic.)  Students will have one class period to produce their best piece of writing.  Show me what you know!  Please type the essay on Word in Vportal.  You will then SHARE your essay with me by clicking the SHARE tab and sending it to:  HLBaker@volusia.k12.fl.us
Wednesday, September 16th – Call of the Wild  (Audible)  Read along.

Thursday, September 17th – Baseline Reading Assessment.  Students will log in to their Vportal.  On their Vportal there is a folder called Digital Resources.  Please click on Digital Resources and then the iReady icon.  Open iReady and click Reading.  Students should work our entire class period – 8 – 9:30 AM.  If the student does not finish, they may resume on Thursday.  Please note, the test will expire.  The student must finish it within the week.  
Friday, September 18th – Finish iReady diagnostic. Sentences/Vocab from The Call of the Wild: Please look up definition and use in a sentence.  Due today.  Please type on Word in Vportal and SHARE with:  HLBaker@volusia.k12.fl.us.  This is also a clean-up day for any outstanding work.
