Innovative Learners: Week 7 (10/12 – 10/16)

Reminders:

  1. Please be reminded that students are expected to login to zoom for civics every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday during 6th period.  If you are unable (for any reason) to join class, please send me an email at gregorskis@ivyhawnschool.org or message on remind (remind code @civic7).  
  2. Please be reminded that students should be working in a Bell Ringer Journal (either digitally on their computers or in a spiral notebook) each and every time we begin Civics class.  Bell Ringer entries are graded 2-3 times per quarter.  Each entry MUST start with the date and be answered in complete sentences.

 

Tuesday’s Agenda:

  1. Bell Ringer: Why do we separate government?  What are some examples of how government power is separated in the U.S.?
  2. Wrap up Montesquieu PowerPoint
  3. Begin Discussion of Influential Documents: American Colonies and Government PowerPoint

Wednesday’s Agenda:

  1. Bell Ringer: What was one document that influenced the American Colonist when creating the U.S.?  Why was it influential?
  2. The American Colonies Lecture and Discussion: American Colonies and Government PowerPoint

Friday’s Agenda:

  1. Bell Ringer (FORMATIVE GRADE):  You have decided to move from Great Britain to America in the 1700s.  Write a letter to a friend or family member explaining why you decided to go, what your journey was like, and your thoughts on your new home. You may google details of life in the Colonies to help you with the details of your letter.
