LAFS.6.W.2.4: Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience.

LAFS.6.SL.1.1: Engage effectively in a range of collaborative discussions (one-on-one, in groups, and teacher-led) with diverse partners on grade 6 topics, texts, and issues, building on others’ ideas and expressing their own clearly.

Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

Learning Target:  Students will provide a statement of how the central idea is conveyed through particular details.  (RI.1.2)

Learning Target:  Students will provide detailed analysis of how a key individual, event or idea is introduced, illustrated and elaborated in a text. (RI.1.3)

Learning Target: Students will provide an explanation of how the author’s point of view or purpose is conveyed in the text. (RI.2.6)

Learning Target: Students will produce clear and coherent writing through poetry (W.2.4)

Assignments will include: Text (non-fiction, poetry, short story, drama) comprehension and analysis, iReady, IXL, NewsELA, & Thinkcerca.   I am using a new resource for our poetry unit.  I hope you enjoy!

This week’s work that will be entered into Gradebook include NewsELA: whichever grade is the highest, iReady weekly, Diamonte poem, and ThinkCERCA.
