Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

I know I am successful when:

• communicate the meaning of division using appropriate vocabulary.

• understand place value of multi-digit numbers and use it when dividing.
• understand that division is the inverse of multiplication.
• develop fluency with the traditional, standard algorithm for division of multi-digit whole numbers.
• use compatible numbers to estimate the reasonableness of answers.

• fluently add and subtract multi-digit decimals using the standard
algorithm.
• fluently multiply multi-digit decimals using the standard algorithm.
• fluently divide multi-digit decimals using the standard algorithm.
• “bring down” the next digit in the algorithm, and understand that I
am distributing, recording, and shifting to the next place value.

Classroom Activities

In class, we complete the MATH workshop each period. This is a blended, rotation model of teaching where your student is receiving the standards in multiple different settings while completing many different activities. This allows me to have time with your students in a very small group setting to help when necessary further develop the understanding of the standards.

Assignments Due

The week students will be assigned the following  to practice class concepts:

IXL: (Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday)  C6, G1, H2 students are expected to reach at least an 80% on these assignments.

Mathspace: (Thursday) Homework #2: Decimal Operations Due Friday 9-21-18

If additional help is needed, students are encouraged to view a lesson regarding a given topic on Khan Academy. This website is free and provides both video instruction as well as practice problems.

Students are able to complete additional practice on both Mathspace and IXL
