MAFS.6.NS.2.4:

Find the greatest common factor of two whole numbers less than or equal to 100 and the least common multiple of two whole numbers less than or equal to 12. Use the distributive property to express a sum of two whole numbers 1-100 with a common factor as a multiple of a sum of two whole numbers with no common factor. For example, express 36 + 8 as 4(9 + 2).

Classroom Activities

Lesson plans are subject to change based on teacher need. 

Monday- 1st – 4th

Virtual Students:

Zoom begins at 8:00

Bell work for Monday. Students will practice using method 2 for finding GCF.

Student will need to print (or write out)the LCM foldable to be placed in their notebook for LCM. During the zoom session we will review GCF and move into lesson on LCM. After zoom session students will complete page 1 of Greatest Common Factor and Least Common Multiple paper (formative).

Students also need to make sure their edgenuity lesson for Factors and Multiples is complete with outline and submitted by Tuesday for Grading. Students will move on to Distributive property lesson in edgenuity this week. 

Face to Face Students:

Bell work: Practice for GCF using method 2.

Following bell work students will participate in a discussion on Least Common Multiple and complete practice problems in whole group. Following the lesson students will complete the practice page 1 for GCF/LCM (formative).

Tuesday 5th – 8th

Virtual Students:

Zoom begins at 8:00

Bell work for Monday. Students will practice using method 2 for finding GCF.

Bell work: Students will complete 2 problems for LCM using method 1. Answers will be gone over whole group. 

Brief review of LCM from previous lesson. I will use the two example problems for GCF in the notebook page 10 to show how to obtain the LCM using the Venn Diagram. Students will then begin work on page 2 and 3 from Greatest Common Factors and Least Common Multiples to be submitted (formative). 

Face to Face Students:

Students will log off of zoom and work to complete weekly work for edgenuity distributive property as well as finish any unfinished class work from this week. 

Face to Face Students:

Students  begin bell work for Thursday. Students will be practicing LCM using method 2.
