Unit of Instruction Decimal Operations/Ratios

Standard(s) Taught

MAFS.6.NS.2.3: (Links to an external site.) Fluently add, subtract, multiply, and divide multidigit decimals using the standard algorithm for each operation.
Honors:
MAFS.6.RP.1.1: (Links to an external site.)Understand the concept of a ratio and use ratio language to describe a ratio relationship between two quantities. For example, “The ratio of wings to beaks in the bird house at the zoo was 2: 1, because for every 2 wings there was 1 beak.” “For every vote candidate A received, candidate C received nearly three votes.”

Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

Success Criteria:
fluently add and subtract multidigit decimals using the standard algorithm.
fluently multiply multidigit decimals using the standard algorithm.
fluently divide multidigit decimals using the standard algorithm.
use vocabulary associated with multidigit computation with multidigit decimals both orally and in writing.
Honors:
Success Criteria:
I know I am successful when I can:
understand that a ratio is a comparison between quantities.
determine when a ratio is describing parttopart or parttowhole comparison.
