Quarter 4 Week 3 of Digital Learning

ESE/ 504/ ESOL : Extra time and small group will be available for assignments. Scaffolding of the material and reading content based questions will be used. Copies of the power point will be made available for note-taking purposes. Extra time will be given to those students needing.requiring it for assignments/quizzes/tests.

• describe ways that the major systems of the human body interact to maintain homeostasis, such as:

 maintain constant temperature – i.e. sweating while running

 response to stimuli – i.e. pull back after touching a hot surface

Students will read texts about the Musculoskeletal System and the Nervous System

Students will participate in 2 labs on the Nervous System, one lab needing input each day.

Students will watch videos on the Musculoskeletal System and the Nervous System.

Students will Identify the functions of the Nervous System.

Assignments Due

Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians;

This is week 3 of E-learning and paper based learning. We are moving to the Musculoskeletal and the Nervous System. Note that the Musculoskeletal is considered one system, no separated into 2 different systems ( muscular and skeletal).  Each day (M-F) students are to work on the lab called “The Brain Challenge”. It is for 7 days, but 5 will be sufficient for our lab.  I am linking the paper based unit here, in case it is needed  Musculoskeletal Nervous Text   .  As always, please text me on Remind or email me at robertsont@ivyhawnschool.org with any questions that you may have.  The paper based does have video link for use to supplement instruction. This is optional if you have no access to technology. The links to the videos are on page 2 found on the paper based link. These will also be posted daily in Edmodo.  Here is a suggested schedule for the week:

Monday:  Read “Muscle Memory” and “Muscles of the Face”.  Watch the video for Monday- see page 2 of the the paper based packet for each video or check Edmodo. Day 1 of Brain Challenge Lab

Tuesday:  Read “Nervous System” and “Functions of the Nervous System”.  Watch the video for Tuesday.  Assignment: Muscles of the Face –use Monday’s text to help you complete this assignment. Day 2 of Brain Challenge Lab.

Wednesday:  Lab:   2 Student labs :  “The Body Challenge”  and “Brain Challenge” Day 3 of Brain Challenge Lab. There will be Zoom help sessions at 10, 2, and 4 on this day.  

Thursday:  Read “The Brain” and “Staying Healthy”.  Watch Thursday video. Day 4 of Brain Challenge Lab

Friday:  Do the Assignment on The Brain using “The Brain” text from Thursday. Complete the Worksheet. This will be a graded assignment and will do into grade book. Last Day of Brain Challenge Lab.
