We will be covering the standards from this unit. Please see previous classroom connects if you want to see the specific standards. 

At the end of the week we will begin a new unit India and these are the standards we will be covering: 


Compare the economic, political, social, and religious institutions of ancient river civilizations.

Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

Student Goals: 

To cover the standards from previous weeks. 

Study for their Egypt/ Israel/ Kush Summative Assessment 

At the end of the week: To cover the Geography of India and compare the river civilizations of Mesopotamia, Egypt and India. Covering pages 100-101 in the student’s interactive notebooks. 

Classroom Activities

Tuesday the 12th: Classes 5-8 will take their summative assessment on Egypt/ Israel/ Kush. 

Wednesday the 13th: Classes 1-4 after completing their study guides students will review for their summative through different activities: headbands, flash cards,  Quizizz 

                     Classes 5-8 will begin focusing on our next unit Ancient India. Working on vocabulary terms and the geography of the subcontinent. 

Thursday the 14th: Classes 1-4 will complete their summative assessments

Friday the 15th: Classes 5-8 will continue working on their Indian Unit 

Indian Unit Vocab #1: 

subcontinent, monsoon, language family, raja, Sanskrit, Vedas, guru



Assignments Due
  • Summative Assessment on Egypt/ Israel/ Kush 
  • Physical features of India:  Pages 100-101 in the student’s interactive notebook. 


Additional Resources

ALL IEP and ESOL accommodations will be provided daily.

When a student is absent, it is their responsibility to check the absent files in class and copy notes from a peer.  Students will have the number of days absent to complete missing work.  If you need any assignments emailed, please contact me at smithk@ivyhawnschool.org.
