Buddhism spread in India. 

SS.6.W.4.3- Recognize the political and cultural achievements of the Mauryan Empire. 

SS.6.W.4.5- Summarize the important achievements and contributions of ancient Indian civilization. 

Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

Student Goals: 

  • Students will describe Asoka’s conversion to ruling through Buddhism.
  • Students will discuss how Asoka contributed to spreading Buddhism through Asia by sending out missionaries
  • Students will discuss the influence of Hinduism and Buddhism on the Mauryan empire. 
Classroom Activities

Students will create Magazine Covers on King Ashoka that include who he was as a leader and his beliefs in Buddhism. 

Students will complete their India Study guide the 12th & 13th 

Summative Assessments will take place on Monday the 16th for periods 1-4 and Tuesday the 17th for periods 5-8.

ALL IEP and ESOL accommodations will be provided daily.
