Face to Face: SS.6.W.3.18- Describe the rise and fall of the ancient east African kingdoms of Kush and Axum and Christianity’s development in Ethiopia.

Innovation: SS.6.W.2.9-Identify key figures and basic beliefs of the Israelites and determine how these beliefs compared with those of others in the geographic area.

Learning Targets and Learning Criteria

Innovation: Student Goals- Discuss the Origins of Judaism- Influential Jewish leaders: Abraham, Moses, monotheism, law, emphasis on individual worth and responsibility.

Face to Face: Student Goals: Students will discuss the fall of Kush due to the conquest by Axum. Students will identify King Ezana as declaring Christianity as the official religion of Axum. Students will discuss the lasting impact of Christianity on Ethiopia throughout history.

**I do not feel comfortable posting the zoom code on a public website so please message me via Remind or email for the code if you need access. I will also not be available to message you once class has begun. If you need the code, it is imperative that you message me at least 20 minutes prior. If a zoom class is missed you will be marked absent and you will need to see our 6th grade checklist for the day’s assignments.

Face to Face: Students will role play while learning about the Kingdom of Kush and their different periods of development. 

 

Assignments Due

Innovation Students will need to complete their Edgenuity lesson “Origins of Judaism” Quiz grade will be taken as a formative grade. 

Face to Face Students:

  • Egypt Projects/ rubrics have been handed out. They are due Nov 30th for periods 1,2,&4 and December 1st for periods 5,7, & 8. Above you will find the rubrics and handout that was given to all my face to face students only.

ALL IEP and ESOL accommodations will be provided daily.

When a student is absent, it is their responsibility to check in with me and get any notes or materials they may have missed. Students will have the number of days absent to complete missing work.
