Learning Target

Students will provide a description of how the theme or central idea is conveyed through particular details. (RL.1.2)

Students will determine the meaning of words and phrases using the context of the text. (RL.2.4)

Students will provide a statement on the impact of a specific word choice on the meaning and tone of the overall text. (RL.2.4)

Summarize text without opinions or judgements
Use text to draw inferences
Use context clues to determine meaning or words/phrases
Determine figurative & connotative meanings
