Q4W1 – March 30 – April 3

Hello Parents and Students!

Welcome to Week 1 of virtual learning! 🙂 Thank you for your patience as we all transition from learning in the classroom to learning online. It is my goal to make this transition as smooth as possible so please do not hesitate to email me or message me on Remind if you have questions. Week 1 assignments are at the bottom of this page but I wanted to give you some information to hopefully ease your mind on how things will work for the next couple weeks.

Students will complete digital assignments (iReady, IXL, and Freckle) in addition to paper-based assignments. For those who did not request the paper-based option, the students are still required to complete those assignments. The paper-based assignments are assigned to students through Edmodo, which is an interactive program that we will be using. Please click the link below to view an Edmodo tutorial from Mrs. Bucich (please disregard the last part that specifically pertains to Mrs. Houman’s students).

Assignments for each week will be as follows:

  • IXL (90% completion on the listed strands) *If strands are already complete, students should work on their Recommendations from the IXL Diagnostic.
  • iReady (45 minutes per week)
  • Freckle (45 minutes)
  • ELA paper-based assignment  **GRADED ASSIGNMENT
  • Social Studies Packet and Questions **GRADED ASSIGNMENT

In addition to these assignments, we ask that your child complete one writing prompt each week. Writing can be completed on a piece of paper and must be hand-written. Students should write at least 10 sentences for each prompt.

**All assignments are due by 7:00pm on Friday.

Assignments may be completed at the student’s own pace. Once completed, work can be turned in by taking a picture or scanning the document and emailing it to me at casadoa@ivyhawnschool.org.

At this point, I am not going to schedule meetings via Zoom due to many students having to share technology with siblings. That being said, I am more than happy to have a video conference with students/parents to answer questions or even to just say hi! I miss your children very much and I would love to be able to connect with them during this time. 🙂
