WEEKLY STANDARDS

ELA:

LAFS.3.RL.1.2 Recount stories, including fables, folktales, and myths from diverse cultures;
determine the central message, lesson, or moral and explain how it is
conveyed through key details in the text.

LAFS.3.RI.1.3 Describe the relationship between events, ideas, or concepts using language that refers to cause and effect.

Social Studies: 

SS.G.2.1 – Label the countries and commonwealths in North America (Canada, Unites States, Mexico) and in the Caribbean (Puerto Rico, Cuba, Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica).

SS.3.G.2.4 – Describe the physical features of the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean.

ELA Activities: Students will participate in small group learning in addition to whole group instruction. 

ELA Writing Targets:

LAFS.3.W.1.1 Write opinion pieces on topics or texts, supporting a point of view with
reasons.
a. Introduce the topic or text they are writing about, state an opinion, and
create an organizational structure that lists reasons.
b. Provide reasons that support the opinion.
c. Use linking words and phrases (e.g., because, therefore, since, for
example) to connect opinion and reasons.
d. Provide a concluding statement or section.
